Setting or changing your DA password

Watch it in a short video

Je DA-wachtwoord wijzigen in Mijn WebOké 0:36

If you always log in via My WebOké, you don't need your DA password. But if you want to log in directly (see Signing in directly on port 2222) or work with the default FTP account, you do. Forgotten your password, or never had one? Then set a new password in My WebOké. You don't need to know the old password to do this.

Setting a new DA password in My WebOké

  1. Go to My Products in My WebOké.
  2. Click Admin next to your hosting package.
  3. Go to the Change DA password block (2).
  4. Type a new password in the New password field, or click Generate for a strong password that we create for you.
  5. Click Change password.

The new password works immediately. It also applies to the default FTP account of your package. If you use that account in FileZilla or another program, update the password there too.

Tip: If you click Generate, write the password down straight away or save it in your password manager before clicking Change password.

Changing the password in DirectAdmin itself

If you're already logged into DirectAdmin, you can also change the password there. To do this, you do need to know the current password.

  1. Click Hello, at the top right, followed by your username.
  2. Choose Profile.
  3. Scroll to Password Management (1).
  4. Enter your current password in Current Password and the new one in New Password.
  5. Click CHANGE PASSWORD.

A strong password

  • Use at least 12 characters, with uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and a punctuation mark.
  • Don't use this password anywhere else.
  • Don't share it by email or WhatsApp. Does your web builder need access? Then preferably give them their own FTP account (see Creating and managing FTP accounts), and change the password once they're finished.
